Naritasan Shinshoji Temple is a head temple of the Shingon sect Chizan branch in Narita City, Chiba, with one of Japan's top New Year visitor counts. The first three days of the new year see particularly large crowds, making Narita's New Year visit a major Chiba event.

Magnificent Temple Buildings

The vast grounds are lined with the Somonon Gate, Niomon Gate, three-story pagoda, and Grand Hall among many structures. The principal image is the Fudo Myoo (deity of fire), affectionately known as "O-Fudo-san." The stroll garden "Naritasan Park" is also beautiful.

Naritasan Approach Food Tour

The approach to Naritasan Shinshoji Temple is lined with eel restaurants, rice cracker shops, and souvenir stores. Narita is famous for eel, and enjoying eel lunch after worshipping is the standard travel plan.
