Wakasa Mikata Goko is the collective name for five lakes (Mikata Lake, Suigetsu Lake, Suga Lake, Kugushi Lake, and brackish water lake) in Wakasa Town, Fukui. Registered as a Ramsar Convention wetland in 2005, Suigetsu Lake is known worldwide for annual layer (nenkou) sediment.

Rainbow Line and Summit Observatory

Wakasa Rainbow Line is a driveway and lift-ropeway to the summit of Umejodake (Ume Castle Peak) overlooking Mikata Goko. The summit park is certified as a "Lovers' Sacred Spot" offering panoramic views of Wakasa Bay and five lakes.

Wakasa Nature and Food

The Wakasa region is a production area for abundant seafood including Wakasa flatfish and Wakasa Guji (tilefish). Activities including fishing and sea kayaking on Wakasa Bay can also be enjoyed, a naturally rich region with both sea and mountain bounty.
