Concluding Place of Oku no Hosomichi

Ogaki City is located in western Gifu, known as the place where Matsuo Basho ended his "Oku no Hosomichi" journey in 1689. "Oku no Hosomichi Musubinoichi Memorial Museum" allows learning about Basho's travel trail.

City of Water: Ogaki

Ogaki City is known as the "City of Water" with abundant groundwater gushing, with spring water throughout the city. The Suimon River flows around Ogaki Castle (water castle) with flower-viewing boats appearing during cherry blossom season for atmospheric scenery.

Ogaki Castle and Industry

Ogaki Castle is a castle also called "Mizu-jiro (water castle)" built in a strategically important location on the Nobi Plain. Ogaki City has also developed as an industrial city with IT industries including Softopia Japan concentrated. "Ogaki Festival" offers traditional festivals with float processions.
