Japan's Only Double-Deck Ropeway

Shinhotaka Ropeway is located at Shinhotaka Onsen in Okuhida Onsen area, Takayama City, Gifu with Japan's only double-deck gondola. Renovated in 2023, taking both the 1st and 2nd ropeways allows climbing to the 2,156m Nishi-Hotaka-guchi Station.

North Alps Views from 2,156m

From the Nishi-Hotaka-guchi Station observatory, North Alps mountains (Kasagatake, Yarigadake, Hotakadake, Yakedake) loom up close with 360-degree grand panorama enjoyable. On good weather days, views as far as Southern Alps and Mt. Fuji may be possible.

"Okuhida Onsen Area" including Shinhotaka Onsen is the collective name for 5 hot spring resorts (Hirayu, Fukuchi, Shin-Hirayu, Tochio, Shinhotaka), popular as a hot spring area in the great nature embraced by North Alps.
