The 365-Step Stairway Town

Ikaho Onsen is famous for its 365-step stone stairway lined with souvenir shops, inns, and shooting galleries. The number of steps is said to correspond to the 365 days of a year.

Two Types of Famous Springs

Ikaho's special feature is having two distinct hot springs: the "golden water" (koganeno-yu), an iron-rich amber-colored spring said to benefit women's ailments and anemia, and the "silver water" (shiroganeno-yu), a clear, colorless spring gentle on the skin.

Literary Heritage

The resort is known for welcoming Meiji and Taisho era literary figures including Yosano Akiko. Strolling the stone steps slowly allows you to absorb the cultural atmosphere.
