Castle of the Sanada Clan

Numata Castle was built by the Numata clan in the Sengoku period and later became the residence of Sanada Masayuki and Nobuyuki. Featured in the NHK taiga drama "Sanada Maru," Numata has drawn attention as Sanada clan territory. The castle ruins are now Numata Park, famous for cherry blossoms.

Spectacular River Terraces

Numata City sits on river terraces formed by Tone River erosion, with breathtaking views from the terrace clifftops. The elevation difference reaches about 100 meters, creating unique scenic landscapes.

Hotaka Mountain and Oku-Tone Nature

Hotaka Mountain (2,158m) surrounding Numata and the Oku-Tone region feature rich nature. Outdoor activities span stream fishing in summer and skiing in winter.
