Kasama-yaki pottery began in the mid-Edo period and is the oldest pottery production area in the Kanto region. Over 200 artists maintain studios in Kasama, producing uniquely creative works.

Himatsuri Pottery Festival

The "Kasama Himatsuri" held every Golden Week is Japan's largest pottery market, attracting over 500,000 visitors as artists from across the country exhibit and sell their works.

Pottery Experience

Many workshops in Kasama offer hands-on experiences including wheel throwing and painting. Creating your own piece makes a wonderful travel memory.
