Mount Tsukuba: Twin Peaks Overlooking the Kanto Plain
Famous Peak of the Kanto Plain
At 877m, Mt. Tsukuba is one of the lowest among Japan's 100 Famous Mountains, but its distinctive twin peaks stand out clearly from the Kanto Plain. On clear days, you can see Mt. Fuji and Tokyo Skytree from the summit.
Ancient Faith
Tsukuba Shrine is known since ancient times as a matchmaking deity, attracting many worshippers. The grounds feature a sacred tree over 800 years old.
Access
Take a shuttle bus from Tsukuba Station on the Tsukuba Express, about 40 minutes. Ropeway and cable car connect to the summit. Spring katakuri flowers and autumn foliage are also spectacular.
