Jodogahama Beach
Jodogahama in Miyako, Iwate, is famous for its spectacular harmony of white rhyolite rocks, green black pines, and sapphire blue sea. A Edo-period monk once exclaimed it was "just like the Pure Land paradise," giving it its name. It is the centerpiece of Sanriku Reconstruction National Park.

Tips
Swimming is possible in summer. Golden Week and summer holidays are very crowded — early morning visits recommended. Pre-book sightseeing boats.
