Mitoyo City Nio Marina and Chichigahama: The Miraculous Instagrammable Beach
Chichigahama: The Spectacular Japanese Uyuni Salt Flat Beach
"Chichigahama Beach" in Mitoyo City, Kagawa Prefecture, is a sandy beach that became suddenly famous on social media as a place where the spectacular sight of "the boundary between sky and sea disappearing" with the sunset reflected in a natural pool that appears at low tide can be photographed. Due to its resemblance to Bolivia's "Uyuni Salt Flat," it earned the nickname "Japanese Uyuni Salt Flat."
Tips for Photographing the Spectacular View
The best reflection can be seen during the 30โ60 minutes before and after low tide, combined with the evening when the sunset is beautiful. Fantastical photos can be taken with the sky dyed by the sunset and human silhouettes reflected in the water surface where tourists stand lined up. Advance confirmation of low tide time is essential.
As a Summer Leisure Beach
Chichigahama Beach is also popular as a summer swimming beach, with the shallow, gentle sea being reassuring even for families with small children. Marine sports including canoeing and SUP (stand-up paddleboarding) can also be enjoyed.
