Shodoshima Olives: Mediterranean Fragrance from Japan's First Olive Production Area
Shodoshima: The Birthplace of Olives in Japan
Shodoshima in Kagawa Prefecture is an island certified as Japan's first olive production area in 1908 (Meiji 41). Holding Japan's unique position as an olive production area alongside Greece, Spain, and Italy, the warm Seto Inland Sea climate provides optimal conditions for olive cultivation.
Shodoshima Olive Park
"Shodoshima Olive Park" is the center of olive tourism. Olive orchards spread across the hill where a white Greek-style windmill stands, evoking Mediterranean scenery. Diverse enjoyment options include aromatherapy experiences using herbs, olive oil tastings, and photo spots.
Witch's Delivery Service Broom Flying Experience
Since the park became famous as a filming location for "Kiki's Delivery Service," a photo spot where you can borrow a broom for "Kiki's Delivery Service" role-playing is extremely popular. Both adults and children can enjoy this.
Shodoshima Soy Sauce and Somen
Shodoshima is also famous for "Shodoshima Hand-Stretched Somen" and "Shodoshima Soy Sauce (Marukin Soy Sauce and Yamasan Soy Sauce)." Soy sauce brewery tours and somen factory tours can also be experienced.
