The Mountain of Kintaro Legend
Mount Kintoki (1,212m) in Minamiashigara City, Kanagawa is traditionally the birthplace of Kintaro (Sakata Kintoki), the hero of folklore. Said to be the setting where Kintaro wrestled a bear in the mountains, a stone monument related to Kintaro stands at the summit.
Outstanding Mt. Fuji Observatory
The greatest attraction of Mt. Kintoki is the Mt. Fuji view from the summit. Positioned on the highest peak of the outer Hakone ring, the unobstructed view of Mt. Fuji with its beautiful silhouette is panoramic. Popular with hikers as the "mountain for worshipping Fuji."
Hiking Courses
Multiple trailheads exist including Sengokuhara (Hakone) and Yazurasawa (Minamiashigara), with various courses to the summit. A mountain beginners can enjoy with hiking courses of about 3-4 hours.
