Arashiyama's bamboo grove is a approximately 500-meter bamboo path spreading from the north side of Tenryuji to around Nonomiya Shrine. The beauty of sky-covering green bamboo has spread worldwide on Instagram and SNS, becoming a landmark Kyoto tourist spot.

Morning Tranquility

Daytime is crowded with tourists, but the early morning bamboo grove is wrapped in silence with fantastical scenes of morning light filtering through the bamboo. Early morning visits are recommended for beautiful photos.

Nonomiya Shrine

Nonomiya Shrine near the bamboo grove entrance is an ancient shrine known for matchmaking and childbirth blessings. Also appearing in "The Tale of Genji," the "kuroki no torii" (black wood torii) is a rare style nationwide.

Arashiyama Area Tourism
