Okage Yokocho: Food Walking and Edo Atmosphere in Ise's Temple Town
Okage Yokocho
Recreating the Bustle of Ise Pilgrimage
Okage Yokocho opened in 1993, the year after the Ise Jingu Shikinen Sengu. The streetscape recreates and transplants Edo and Meiji era Ise road architecture, providing a space for post-worship food walking and shopping.
Ise Specialty Gourmet
From Akafuku's directly managed store to ise udon, tekone sushi, ise lobster specialty shops, and mitarashi dango, Ise-Shima specialties gather here. The classic course is strolling the alley while eating.
Traditional Crafts and Souvenirs
Many stores handle Mie traditional crafts including Ise katagami stencils, pearl products, and Ise cotton, ideal for souvenir selection, with live demonstrations and craft workshops.
The Alley with Cats
Maneki-neko (lucky cat) figurines are placed throughout, and leisurely walking cats also live here. Relaxed time can be spent in this nostalgic atmosphere.
