Yokkaichi Combinat Night View

Pioneer of Factory Night Views

Yokkaichi City developed petrochemical combinats from the 1950s, growing into Mie's largest industrial city. At night, countless lights illuminate distillation towers and pipelines, spreading a scene like a sci-fi movie.

Observation Spots

The factory complex can be viewed from Kasumigaura Green Space and near Yokkaichi Dome. Tourist cruise ships also operate, allowing enjoyment of factory night views from the sea, popular with photographers.

Birthplace of Factory Moe

In the 2000s, photo books became bestsellers and the term "factory moe" was born in Yokkaichi. As the birthplace of a new tourism style finding industrial beauty, it became the pioneer for factory night view spots nationwide.

Yokkaichi Pollution and Regeneration

Yokkaichi suffered serious "Yokkaichi Pollution" air pollution in the 1960s but has a history of magnificent regeneration through environmental measures. The Pollution Archives allows learning of this history.
