Huis ten Bosch: Kyushu's Largest Resort Themed on the Netherlands

"Huis Ten Bosch" in Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture, is one of Japan's largest theme parks (by area) — approximately 152 hectares — precisely recreating Dutch palaces and street scenery. Since opening in 1992, approximately 3 million visitors annually from Japan and abroad visit as Kyushu's largest tourist spot.

Four Seasons Flower Events

Huis ten Bosch is also known as a "flower theme park," with various events held throughout the year including spring Tulip Festival (1 million tulips), summer sunflowers, autumn cosmos, and winter illuminations (13 million LEDs). The winter "Kingdom of Light" is particularly famous as Japan's largest illumination.

Attractions and Entertainment

Various entertainment is available within the park including various attractions, anime experience facilities, and VR experiences. Accommodation facilities within the park including "Hotel Europe" also allow leisurely extended stays.

Shopping and Gourmet

Many Netherlands and Europe-themed souvenir shops and restaurants are within the vast park. European-style sweets including cheese, chocolate, and waffles can also be enjoyed.

Access

Nearest station is JR Sasebo Line "Huis ten Bosch Station." Approximately 1 hour 50 minutes by limited express "Huis ten Bosch" from JR Hakata Station.
