Kujukushima Sea Kayaking: Ocean Adventure in the Great Outdoors

In the Kujukushima area of Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture, "Kujukushima Sea Kayaking" paddling between 208 large and small islands is a popular activity. Nature that cannot be experienced from land โ€” including emerald green sea, uninhabited islands, and diverse flora and fauna โ€” can be fully enjoyed.

Content of Sea Kayak Experience

Many tours guided by qualified instructors are available for beginners to safely enjoy. Various plans from half-day course (2โ€“3 hours) to full-day course (6โ€“8 hours) are available, with landing on uninhabited islands, underwater observation, and snorkeling combinations also possible.

Marine Life of Kujukushima

Kujukushima's sea is abundant with oysters, sea urchins, octopus, and squid. Colorful fish, octopus, and crabs can also be observed in the high-transparency underwater environment.

Combination with Observation Deck Viewing

Alongside sea kayaking, scenery appreciation of Kujukushima from observation decks (Iwadake, Tenkaiho) is also popular. By combining the aerial multi-island beauty and the perspective from the sea surface, the charm of Kujukushima can be enjoyed more deeply.

Access

Kayak tours can be participated in with Kujukushima Pearl Sea Resort as a base. Approximately 25 minutes by bus from JR Sasebo Station. Since many tours require advance reservations, checking the official website is recommended.
