Manabe Island: Island Where Edo-Period Fishing Village Remains
The largest Kasaoka Island, "Manabe Island," is also known as a filming location for the movie "20th Century Boys," retaining unchanged fishing village scenery from the Edo period. Also famous as "the island of cats" with many resident cats, island exploration encounters cats everywhere.
Kitagi Island: Stone Island and Horseshoe Crab Conservation
"Kitagi Island" has long flourished in granite quarrying as a "stone island." Kitagi Island stone has been used in many structures including the stonework of Tokyo Station and the torii gate of Yasukuni Shrine. Also, Kasaoka Bay is known as a horseshoe crab breeding ground with conservation activities underway.
Kasaoka Kamogata Figs and Gourmet
The Seto Inland Sea coast including Kasaoka City also has active agriculture utilizing the warm climate, with Kamogata-grown figs as a specialty product. Fresh Seto Inland Sea seafood can also be enjoyed.

Taxi or on foot from JR Sanyo Main Line Kasaoka Station to Kasaoka Port. About 20-60 minutes from Kasaoka Port to each island by city ferry.
