Kema Sakuranomiya Park: Osaka's Largest Cherry Blossom Avenue along the Okawa River
Kema Sakuranomiya Park
Osaka's Largest Cherry Blossom Viewing Spot
Kema Sakuranomiya Park extending about 5km along the Okawa River has approximately 4,700 cherry trees (mainly Somei Yoshino), Osaka's largest cherry blossom avenue. During the bloom period from late March to early April, over 1 million visitors cumulatively visit this Osaka symbol of spring.
Cherry Blossom Viewing Enjoyment
In the park, cherry blossoms can be enjoyed on both sides of the Okawa River as the Mint Bureau cherry walk occurs simultaneously in early April each year. Blue sheet picnics are Osaka style, bustling with families and company colleagues.
Yakatabune and Cruises
During cherry blossom season, enjoying cherry blossoms from yakatabune boats plying the Okawa is also popular. Dining and drinking on yakatabune while simultaneously enjoying the beauty of cherry blossoms is a special experience.
Combination with Mint Bureau
The Mint Bureau is right next to Kema Sakuranomiya Park, enjoyable simultaneously during the cherry walk period. Convenient access from Temmabashi and Sakuranomiya stations makes this a standard Osaka spring tourism course.
