Hizen Hama in Kashima City, Saga Prefecture, is a post town and sake brewery district facing the Ariake Sea coast, continuing from the Edo period. The white wall and black plank fence townscape designated as a National Important Preservation District for Groups of Historic Buildings remains, popular as a representative historic scenery of Saga.
Sake Production Area
Hizen Hama is a famous sake production area called "the Nada of Hizen." Hizen sake brewed with cold winter fermentation is known for its delicate flavor using Ariake Sea's soft water and abundant rice. "Nabeshima (NABESHIMA)" brewed by local brewery "Fukuchiyo Shuzo" is a world-class brand that won the highest award at the world's largest sake contest "IWC (International Wine Challenge)."
