🏮 Saitama|May 11, 2026

Setting of "The Lord of the Samurai"

Oshi Castle in Gyoda City, Saitama is famous for surviving Toyotomi Hideyoshi's attempted water siege during the Sengoku period. This event became the subject of Ryu Wada's novel and film "The Lord of the Samurai."

Water Fortress Features

Oshi Castle is a typical "water fortress" surrounded by marshes and moats. Now developed as the Oshi Castle ruins, you can visit the reconstructed three-story tower. The Gyoda City Local Museum is also adjacent.

Gyoda Ancient Lotus

In Gyoda City, ancient lotus seeds discovered at ruins in 1971 germinated, known as "Gyoda Lotus." Many visitors come during the July flowering season.
