Famous Alley of "Little Edo" Kawagoe
Kashiya Yokocho is an alley near the Kuranomachi storehouse district in the center of Kawagoe tourism, lined with about 20 candy shops, sweet shops, and confectionery stores. A candy holy land continuing from the Meiji period, popular with tourists for its Showa-era retro atmosphere.
Diverse Traditional Sweets
Abundant traditional sweets including malt sugar, candy art, rice crackers, and okoshi are available. Watching craftsmen demonstrate candy art is enjoyable in itself, and some shops let you commission original candy art pieces.
Combined with Kawagoe's Storehouse District
The standard approach is combining Kashiya Yokocho with Kawagoe's "Kuranomachi" (designated Important Traditional Building Preservation District). Enjoy travel plans including Edo-period storehouse architecture and the Kawagoe Festival.
