Metasequoia Avenue
Spectacular Tree-Lined Road Colored by Four Seasons
The tree-lined road with about 500 metasequoias extending approximately 2.4km was planted in 1981 alongside the development of agricultural park Makino Picland. It has become a famous spot selected among Japan's Top 100 Roads.
Autumn Foliage
From mid to late November, metasequoias turn red and orange, showing blazing beauty along the entire tree-lined road. This period sees many photographers and tourists.
Winter Snow Scene
When snow falls, it transforms into a silver world. The snow-covered metasequoia avenue becomes a fantastical scene described as a "silver tunnel."
Surrounding Activities
Makino Picland adjacent to the avenue offers agricultural experiences and fruit picking. With a nearby ski resort and Lake Biwa beaches, the area offers activities enjoyable through all four seasons.
