Instrument Capital: Hamamatsu

Hamamatsu City is an industrial city in western Shizuoka, known as the "Instrument Capital" as headquarters of world-class instrument makers including Yamaha (former Nippon Gakki), Kawai Musical Instruments, and Roland. The Japanese musical instrument industry is said to have begun when Yamaha founder Torakusu Yamaha manufactured organs in Hamamatsu in 1887.

Hamamatsu City Musical Instrument Museum

"Hamamatsu City Musical Instrument Museum" is Japan's first public instrument museum exhibiting rare and precious instruments from around the world. A precious facility where instruments from Japan, Asia, Europe, and Africa can be seen in one place, a must-see spot for music lovers.

Lake Hamana and Agriculture

Lake Hamana (Hamanako) is a brackish lake in western Shizuoka with active aquaculture of eel, oysters, and soft-shelled turtle. Around Lake Hamana, growing of fruits including mandarin oranges, melons, and strawberries is also active with agricultural tourism and fruit picking also enjoyable.
