Kakegawa Castle in Kakegawa City, Shizuoka is called the "Famous Castle of Tokai." The current castle tower was built in 1994 as Japan's first full-scale wooden reconstructed castle tower, a beautiful tower reproducing Edo-period construction techniques.
Kakegawa Castle Palace (Important Cultural Property)
"Kakegawa Castle Palace" adjacent to Kakegawa Castle was built in the late Edo era (1861), designated as a national important cultural property as existing castle architecture. Shoin (reception room) architecture including reception room, large hall, and kitchen is preserved for castle palace viewing.
