Kawazu Sakura: Japan's Earliest Blooming Cherry Trees and Rapeseed Flower Ensemble
Japan's Earliest Sakura Festival
Kawazu Zakura is an early-blooming cherry variety discovered around 1955 in Kawazu Town, Kamo District, Shizuoka, characterized by deep pink color and early blooming (early February to early March). "Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival" is held annually early February to early March, becoming a winter tourism event attracting many tourists.
Ensemble with Rapeseed Flowers
During the Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival, rapeseed flowers are planted on the embankment along the Kawazu River, creating beautiful scenery with the contrast of deep pink Kawazu Zakura and yellow rapeseed flowers. This combination of "cherry blossoms and rapeseed flowers" has become the symbol of Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival.
Kawazu Hot Springs and Tourism
Kawazu Town is located on the east side of the Izu Peninsula with hot spring resort "Kawazu Onsen." Starting from Izu Kyuko Railway's Kawazu Station, hiking courses of Kawazu Nanadaru (Seven Waterfalls) and hot springs can also be enjoyed.
