๐Ÿ—ป Shizuoka|May 11, 2026

Sacred Ground of Hagoromo Legend

Miho no Matsubara is a scenic sandbar in Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka City, long known as the setting of the "Hagoromo (feathered robe) Legend." Famous for the pine tree "Hagoromo no Matsu" said to be where a celestial being hung her feathered robe, with the precincts' Miho Shrine enshrining the celestial being.

Mt. Fuji World Heritage Component Asset

Miho no Matsubara is included as one of the component assets in Mt. Fuji's 2013 World Heritage registration. The combination of about 7km of white sand and green pine coastline with Mt. Fuji towering beyond is spectacular scenery loved as a classic subject of Japanese painting.

Viewing Miho no Matsubara

Access by walking the approach called "Kami no Michi (Road of the Gods)." The view of Mt. Fuji from the sandy beach in the pine grove is exceptional, with the landscape integrating pine grove, sea, and Mt. Fuji being one of Japan's representative beautiful sceneries.
