Kazura Bridge Illumination: The Hidden Realm Suspension Bridge Glowing Fantastically in Autumn Iya
Kazura Bridge Illumination: A Fantastical World Born in the Hidden Realm's Night
The "Kazura Bridge" in Iya, Miyoshi City, Tokushima Prefecture, has wonderful gorge beauty during the day, but the illumination held on autumn nights creates an even more fantastical atmosphere. The glowing Kazura Bridge floating in the dark gorge has a mysterious beauty that makes you forget everyday life.
Overview of the Illumination
Kazura Bridge illumination is held during the autumn recreational season (mainly October–November). Lights attached to the suspension bridge illuminate the entire bridge, and combined with the clear Iya River flowing below and autumn foliage, creates a painting-like scenery.
Collaboration with Autumn Foliage
October–November in Iya Valley is the peak of autumn foliage. The red, orange, and yellow gradations coloring the gorge's sheer cliffs harmonize exquisitely with the illuminated Kazura Bridge, producing spectacular views unique to autumn Iya.
Accommodation in Iya Valley
As hidden realm accommodation facilities, ryokan and hotels including "Hotel Kazurabashi" and "Iyashi no Onsen-kyo" allow staying while enjoying gorge scenery. For savoring the nighttime Kazura Bridge, visiting with an overnight stay is recommended.
Access
Car access is basic. Approximately 2 hours from Tokushima city. Buses also operate from JR Awa-Ikeda Station (infrequent). Illumination dates and times vary by year, so advance confirmation is necessary.
