πŸ—Ό Tokyo|May 11, 2026

Mountain with World's Top Climber Count

Mount Takao in Hachioji City, Tokyo is a 599m mountain with about 3 million annual climbers, one of the world's highest levels. Easy access about 50 minutes by train from central Tokyo brings climbers year-round.

Yakuo-in Power Spot

Halfway up Mt. Takao is Yakuo-in, a head temple of the Shingon sect Chizan branch. Known as a sacred mountain with tengu (goblin) legends, it is also known as a practice place for mountain monks. Large and small tengu statues are iconic Takao symbols.

Autumn Foliage and Summit Mt. Fuji Views

November foliage season turns the entire mountain to brilliant colors, an especially beautiful season. On clear days, Mt. Fuji can be seen from the summit, and no other mountain near the city offers such spectacular views.
