๐Ÿ—ผ Tokyo|May 11, 2026

300 Years of Traditional Fireworks

Sumida River Fireworks Festival began in Kyoho 18 (1733), one of Japan's most famous fireworks festivals. Still held every late July, about one million spectators watch along the Sumida River.

Two Venue Spectacular

Two areas near Sakura Bridge and between Komagata Bridge and Umaya Bridge serve as venues, with about 20,000 fireworks launched. Different fireworks artists compete at two venues, allowing diverse fireworks enjoyment.

Yukata and Food Stall Excitement

Many people attend the Sumida Fireworks Festival dressed in yukata, making it an iconic Tokyo summer tradition. Many food stalls line the banks, with summer foods including shaved ice, yakisoba, and takoyaki to enjoy.
