The "Daisen-Nakaumi-Shinji Lake Cycling Course" developed from western Tottori (Yonago, Sakaiminato) to eastern Shimane (Matsue, Izumo) is a richly varied cycling route crisscrossing the Sea of Japan, Lake Nakaumi, and Lake Shinji. Popular refreshing bicycle journeys departing from Daisen's foothills while enjoying spectacular views of Yumigahama, Nakaumi, and Shinji Lake.
Course Highlights
The biggest appeal of the course is the diverse spectacular views spreading before you. Mt. Daisen's majestic profile, Yumigahama's white sand and pines, Lake Nakaumi's calm surface, the sunset sinking into Lake Shinji — richly varied scenery continues without interruption. With many flat routes, it's accessible for cycling beginners too.
Rental Bikes and Cycling Accommodations
Rental bicycle bases exist around Yonago Station and Sakaiminato Station. "Cyclist-friendly accommodations" equipped for bicycle travelers are also dotted throughout, allowing multi-day journeys while staying overnight.
Mt. Daisen Viewpoints
Many "Mt. Daisen viewpoints" are designated as stopover points during cycling. The view of Mt. Daisen from Yumigahama is particularly extraordinary, with the perfect mountain profile extending from summit to foothills being deeply moving.

JR Yonago Station, the starting point, is about 2.5 hours from Osaka by limited express.
