Himi City in Toyama Prefecture is nationally famous as a "kanburi" (winter yellowtail) production area. In winter, large wild yellowtail migrate off Himi, caught in fixed nets. Particularly abundant years when a "Himi Kanburi Declaration" is issued gain special attention.

Himi Fishing Port Morning Market

Markets and restaurants selling fresh seafood line the area around Himi Fishing Port. Early morning market lets you purchase fresh fish directly from local fishermen.

Fujiko F. Fujio's Hometown

Himi City is the hometown of Fujiko F. Fujio, creator of "Doraemon." The "Fujiko F. Fujio Manga Road" is developed in the city, with Doraemon bronze statues scattered throughout the town.
