Snow Valley Walk
The "Snow Valley Walk" held annually mid-April to late June at Murodo (2,450m), the highest point of Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, is a special event allowing walking between snow walls reaching up to about 15-20 meters. The snow corridor created by snow removal work is rare worldwide.
Alpine Route Opening
When Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route opens annually around mid-April, many tourists from across Japan and around the world visit. Access from the Toyama side (Tateyama Station) by combination of cable car, bus, and ropeway, with through access to the Nagano side (Ogizawa) also possible.
Murodo's Spring Scenery
Spring around Murodo sees alpine plants sprouting simultaneously with snowmelt and ptarmigan (natural monuments) appearing. The contrast of the white snow world and blue sky is breathtaking scenery.
