Yatsuo Owara Kaze no Bon: Fantastical Dance Swaying on Autumn Nights
Fantastical Autumn Festival
Yatsuo Owara Kaze no Bon is held in Yatsuo district, Toyama City for three days September 1-3 annually, representing Toyama Prefecture. Dancers wearing deeply tilted woven hats flow through various town streets to the melancholic sounds of kokyu, shamisen, and drums.
Types of Dances
Owara Kaze no Bon dances are divided into male and female dances, characterized by graceful and refined movements. The sight of dancers performing flowing dances while each town's street lights glow at night perfectly fits the word "fantastical."
Etchu Yatsuo's Townscape
Yatsuo is a castle town with many slopes and old streetscapes remaining, with many people visiting as the "hometown of Owara." Even outside festival season, the old townscape spreading across slopes and the cobblestones of Suwacho Main Street are beautiful, attracting tourists year-round.
