Zao Onsen Town

Zao Onsen on the outskirts of Yamagata City is a distinctive hot spring area where strongly acidic sulfur springs (pH 1โ€“2) bubble up. The milky white water has high skin-beautifying properties and has been beloved as "Zao's waters" since ancient times.
