Literary Mountain: Daibosatsu Pass
Daibosatsu Pass is a mountain pass (2,057m elevation) on the boundary between Koshu City, Yamanashi and Kosuge Village, Kitatsuru District. Famous as the setting of Nakazato Kaizan's epic novel "Daibosatsu Pass," a mountain also loved by literary fans.
Grand Views from the Ridge
On mountain climbing routes to Daibosatsu Pass, grand views of Mt. Fuji, Kofu Basin, and Southern Alps can be enjoyed from the ridge. Especially the views from "Kaminari-iwa (Thunder Rock)" are wonderful, with views to distant Okutama mountains on clear days.
Popular Course Even Beginners Can Climb
Daibosatsu Pass is popular as a mountain relatively easy for beginners to climb. The course climbing from Kaminiikawa Pass takes about 4-5 hours round trip, offering mountain climbing with good views and sense of accomplishment. Autumn foliage season (October-November) is particularly popular, with colorful trees and Mt. Fuji combination being beautiful.
