History of Kofu Castle
Kofu Castle is castle ruins located in Kofu City, Yamanashi, a flatland mountain castle built around 1590 on Toyotomi Hideyoshi's orders. During the Edo era it was valued as an important Tokugawa shogunate castle with a castle administrator posted. Currently it serves as "Maizuru Castle Park," a relaxation spot for citizens.
Restored Castle Buildings
Kofu Castle has Inari Watchtower, Kaji Kuruwa (blacksmith enclosure), and castle tower platform restored and developed for visiting. Views of Kofu cityscape and Mt. Fuji can be enjoyed from the Inari Watchtower built on white stone walls.
Convenient Location Adjacent to JR Kofu Station
Kofu Castle is conveniently located just a short walk from Kofu Station's north exit. There is a Takeda Shingen bronze statue in front of Kofu Station, with many tourists visiting as a starting point for Kofu sightseeing.
