Japan's Most Beautiful Gorge

Shosenkyo is a special scenic spot in the northwest of Kofu City, Yamanashi, a gorge continuing about 5km in total length. The scenery woven by strange rocks, cliffs, and clear streams formed by granite eroded over many years is called "Japan's most beautiful gorge."

Senga Waterfall and Kakuenbo Peak

Shosenkyo's highlights are "Senga Waterfall" with a drop of 30m and the vertically standing rock wall "Kakuenbo" at 180m height. Senga Waterfall with abundant water volume and powerful falls is selected in "Japan's 100 Great Waterfalls." Kakuenbo's sheer rock wall has overwhelming presence.

Autumn Foliage and Crystal

Shosenkyo is famous as an autumn foliage spot, with the crimson autumn gorge beauty spectacular. The area around Kofu City is also known as a crystal production area, with crystal souvenir shops and polishing workshops concentrated around Shosenkyo.
