🗻 Yamanashi|May 11, 2026

Takeda Shingen and Takeda Shrine

Takeda Shrine is located in Kofu City, Yamanashi, a shrine enshrining famous Sengoku general Takeda Shingen (1521-1573) as main deity. Built on the site of Tsutsujigasaki-yakata where Shingen was born and used as his base for about 30 years, designated as Yamanashi Prefecture's general guardian shrine.

Takeda Treasures

Takeda Shrine's "Treasure Hall" exhibits valuable treasures passed down in the Takeda clan including armor, swords, and documents. Relics said to have been actually used by Shingen are also exhibited, touching the warrior culture of the Sengoku era.

Kofu Shingen-ko Festival

The "Kofu Shingen-ko Festival" held in April each year is Yamanashi's largest festival, with warrior processions of Takeda's 24 generals and others marching through Kofu city as highlights. The majestic festival with 2,000+ participants in total is a must-see.
