Sadamisaki Peninsula: Spectacular Views Drawn by Japan's Longest Narrow Peninsula

The Sadamisaki Peninsula extending approximately 40 kilometers from Ikata Town, Ehime Prefecture to Shikoku's westernmost point "Cape Sadamisaki," is Japan's longest narrow peninsula. Where the width is narrow, scenery where the sea can be seen on both sides spreads out, with the unique spectacular combination of numerous wind power turbines installed along the ridge and the blue sea of the Seto Inland Sea and Uwa Sea.

Sadamisaki Lighthouse

"Sadamisaki Lighthouse" at the tip of the peninsula is a white lighthouse standing at the edge of a cliff overlooking the Bungo Channel (the boundary between the Seto Inland Sea and the Pacific Ocean). Reachable by about 30 minutes on foot from the parking area, the view on clear days when Kyushu and Oita Prefecture can be seen is exceptional.

Wind Power and Ikata Nuclear Power Plant

The Sadamisaki Peninsula is also an "energy peninsula" where Shikoku Electric Power's Ikata Nuclear Power Plant and numerous wind power facilities are located. Driving the ridgeline road with wind turbines lined up is a unique experience.

Misaki–Usuki/Yawatahama Ferry

Regular ferries to Usuki Port in Oita Prefecture and Uwajima direction operate from "Misaki Port" near the peninsula's tip, usable for Shikoku–Kyushu travel.

Access

To the peninsula via National Route 197 from Iyo-Nagahama and Yawatahama. Approximately 1 hour by car to the Sadamisaki Lighthouse parking area.
