Ozu Castle: A Famous Iyo Castle with Wooden Restored Keep Reflected in the Hiji River
Ozu Castle in Ozu City, Ehime Prefecture, is a castle where the keep built in the Genna era (early 17th century) was faithfully restored in wood in 2004. It attracts attention as one of the few wooden restored keeps nationwide. The image of the keep reflected in the Hiji River surface at dusk is Ozu City's representative scenery.

On the Hiji River flowing beside Ozu Castle, river cruises and traditional boat experiences โ also the setting of "Ohanahan" (model for an NHK morning drama) โ can be enjoyed. The experience of enjoying the Hiji River's clear stream and castle scenery from aboard a boat is exceptional.
Castle Town Ozu Walking
In the castle town of Ozu, called the "Small Kyoto of Iyo," "Ohanahan-dori Street" retaining a Showa-era shopping district atmosphere and "Garyu Sanso" utilizing old farmhouses and samurai residences remain. Garyu Sanso is a national Important Cultural Property built in the Meiji period, with its famous garden along the Hiji River also renowned.
Winter "Imotaki" Hot Pot
"Imotaki (taro hot pot)," a specialty of Ozu, is a hot pot dish of taro, chicken, konjac, and other ingredients simmered in soy sauce and broth. Outdoor imotaki events are held annually in September on the Hiji River bank, becoming a local autumn seasonal tradition.

Approximately 20 minutes on foot from JR Iyo-Ozu Station. Approximately 40โ50 minutes from Matsuyama city by limited express.
