Seki City in central Gifu Prefecture is the "cutlery capital Seki" with over 800 years of history. Known as a Japanese sword production area since the Kamakura era, the tradition of swordsmiths who produced famous swords including "Seki no Magoroku" laid the foundation for today's cutlery industry.

Current Seki City has Japan's top production volume of cutlery including knives, scissors, and blades, a globally recognized cutlery production area. "Seki Kaji Denshokan Museum" allows experiencing and viewing traditional sword-forging techniques with sword exhibitions also well-equipped.

The "Seki Cutlery Festival" held every October has diverse events including cutlery direct sales, knife sharpening experiences, and Japanese sword exhibitions. The experience of learning knife sharpening from professional craftsmen is especially popular with cooking enthusiasts.
