Oze's Highland Wetland
Oze is Japan's largest highland bog, spanning parts of Gunma, Fukushima, and Niigata prefectures at 1,400m elevation. Wooden boardwalks are installed for exploring the Ramsar Convention-listed wetland's rich nature.
White Carpet of Skunk Cabbage
The skunk cabbage blooms with snowmelt in early June, creating Oze's signature sight. Known from the beloved song "When summer comes, I remember the distant Oze," the white flowers amid new greenery stay in many hearts.
Autumn Day Lilies and Grass Foliage
In July, day lilies turn the wetland yellow, and in autumn, the "kusa-momiji" (grass foliage) colors the marsh red. Oze is a botanical treasure with alpine plants throughout the year.
