The Olive Island
Shodoshima is the island that first succeeded in olive cultivation in Japan in 1908. Olives are still cultivated throughout the island, with olive oil, olive soap, and olive-based foods known as specialties.
Angel Road
Angel Road, a sandy path that only appears at low tide, is a romantic spot where holding hands with a loved one while crossing is said to grant wishes. The key is visiting timed with low tide.
Terraced Rice Fields and Soy Sauce Island
The island's terraced rice fields are beautiful rice paddy scenery representing Japan's rural landscape. Shodoshima is also famous as a soy sauce producing area with Yamasa and Yamaro soy sauces, with wooden barrel brewing soy sauce culture continuing today.
Maze Town
Tonoshocyo's "Maze Town" is a unique settlement with intricately winding lanes remaining as pirate countermeasures. The world's narrowest strait "Dobuchi Channel" (9.93m wide) is also here.
