Spectacular Scenery of the Kii Peninsula

The Kumano-Nada coastline in southern Mie features bold scenery of continuous rias coastline. Tategasaki (National Scenic Spot and Natural Monument) has a magnificent cliff of columnar jointing 80 meters high extending 700 meters.

Onigajo

Onigajo (Devil's Castle) in Kumano City is an area of unusual rocks where caves and holes carved by waves and wind continue. Walking trails allow exploration of strangely shaped coastal rocks, also designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site (part of Kumano Kodo).

Shichiri Mihama

"Shichiri Mihama" (Seven-ri Beach), a pebble beach extending seven ri (about 22km), is Japan's longest gravel beach. Part of the Kumano Kodo Iseji route, walking the ancient road while listening to waves is a popular experience.

Tuna Cuisine

Bluefin tuna from Shingu City is famous in the Kumano area, known for high bluefin tuna landings. A journey exploring the remote coastline while enjoying fresh tuna dishes is exceptional.
