Soja Ancient Kibi Road Cycling: Cycling to Kokubunji Five-Story Pagoda and Tsukuriyama Ancient Tomb

The "Kibi Road" in Okayama Prefecture is a historic area retaining the atmosphere of the ancient Kibi Province that predates the Nara period, with valuable historical sites including a kokubunji (provincial temple) five-story pagoda, ancient tombs, and shrines scattered among farmland. Using the developed bicycle path "Kibi Road Bicycle Path" is a popular cycling course running through tranquil rural scenery.

Bicchu Kokubunji and Five-Story Pagoda

The representative scenery of Kibi Road is the "Five-Story Pagoda of Bicchu Kokubunji." The approximately 34-meter five-story pagoda that suddenly appears amidst rice fields was reconstructed in the late Edo period and is beloved as the Kibi Road symbol. The pagoda among blooming rapeseed in spring and ripening rice stalks in autumn is especially beautiful, attracting many photographers.
