🦑 Osaka|May 12, 2026

Mint Bureau Cherry Blossom Walk

Osaka's Last Cherry Blossom Famous Spot

The Mint Bureau's "cherry blossom walk" is an Osaka spring tradition continuing since 1883. A special week-long opening allowing one-way passage through the bureau grounds to view cherry blossoms, attracting hundreds of thousands annually.

Rare Cherry Blossom Varieties

Of about 350 trees, over 130 varieties of diverse cherry blossoms are planted, offering rare varieties different from common Somei Yoshino. Visitors can encounter unfamiliar varieties including double-petal cherries and yellow-hued cherries.

Mint Bureau History

The Mint Bureau, established in 1871 as Japan's first modern coin mint, has a museum for learning about Japanese currency history and production processes. The production technology of minted coins can also be observed.

Okawa Riverside Cherry Blossoms

Continuous cherry blossom avenues of Kema Sakurannomiya Park line the Okawa River adjacent to the Mint Bureau. A walking course combining the park's cherry blossoms and the mint walk is a standard Osaka spring tourist experience.
