Built on Mitsurushi Hill, it offers an excellent location overlooking the surrounding Niji no Matsubara, Karatsu Bay, and Genkai Sea.
Spectacular Views from the Castle Tower
From the 5-story castle tower restored in 1966, "Niji no Matsubara (1 million black pine trees)" spreading along Karatsu Bay, "Karatsu city," and "Genkai Sea" can be viewed at a glance. The scenery at dusk is particularly exceptional, with beautiful scenery woven by pine forest, sea, and sunset enjoyable.
Exhibitions Inside the Castle
Inside the castle tower, history of Karatsu domain, Terazawa family materials, and masterpieces of Karatsu ware are exhibited. Miniatures of the "Karatsu Kunchi" festival floats (hikiyama) are also exhibited on the 4th floor.
Karatsu Kunchi (Autumn Festival)
