What is Shizuoka Oden?

Shizuoka Oden is a local oden developed in Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture with several characteristics. 1. Soup is black (beef tendon dashi, soy sauce, mirin base), 2. Items are on skewers (black hanpen, beef tendon, chikuwa, etc.), 3. Finished by sprinkling "dashi powder (sardine powder or fish powder)" and dried green seaweed.

Aoba Oden Street and Dagashi Culture

Shizuoka City's "Aoba Oden Street" is the sacred site of Shizuoka Oden with many oden stalls and restaurants gathered. In the back street retaining Showa atmosphere, unique food culture fusing dagashi (cheap candy) culture and oden culture can be enjoyed.

Black Hanpen and Shizuoka Gourmet

"Black hanpen" essential to Shizuoka Oden is a Shizuoka-unique ingredient made from blue-backed fish including sardines and mackerel ground with skin, completely different from nationally known white hanpen. Local gourmet easily enjoyed at supermarkets and restaurants in Shizuoka City.
