"Oboke and Koboke," carved by the Yoshino River's rapids flowing through Miyoshi City, Tokushima Prefecture, over approximately 200 million years. This gorge of jade-colored clear streams and chalk-white sheer cliffs is designated as a national Natural Monument and Scenic Beauty, known as Shikoku's premier hidden realm.

Enjoy Gorge Beauty on a Sightseeing Boat

In Oboke, sightseeing boats slowly ascending the Yoshino River rapids are popular. While listening to the boatman's commentary, you can enjoy the nearby sheer cliffs and clear stream. Taking approximately 30 minutes, the seasonal gorge beauty can be enjoyed throughout the year.

Rafting Experience

The Oboke–Koboke section is one of Japan's leading rafting spots. Numerous rafting tours descending the thrilling rapids with professional guides operate, with spring to summer being the most popular.

Iya Kazura Bridge

The "Iya Kazura Bridge" approximately 30 minutes by car from Oboke is a suspension bridge woven from Siebold's smilax vines. The experience of crossing the bridge with its sparse, swaying footing allows enjoyment of thrills along with a hidden realm atmosphere.

Access

A few minutes on foot from JR Oboke Station (limited express stop) to the sightseeing boat landing. Approximately 1.5 hours by car from Tokushima city.
